On January 14, 2026, deputies with the Garrett County Sheriff’s Office served a bench warrant on William Ray Whitacre Jr, 38 years old, Kitzmiller, for failing to comply with pre-trial conditions. Whitacre was transported to the Garrett County Detention Center and is beng held without bond.

From the desk of Garrett County Sheriff Bryson Meyers: On January 1, 2026, around 0430 a.m. deputies with the Garrett County Sheriff’s Office responded to the 100 block of S. Oakhall Drive, Mountain Lake Park, for a check on well-being. Deputies determined that a female inside the residence was being held against her will, and deputies were able to get the female out of the residence to safety.
